List of Online Sitemap Tools, Generators, & Creators - Sitemap Makers Part I
Your sitemap page is the one page that all sites should have. Although sitemaps are great for SEO, I am talking about the importance of sitemaps to your visitors. If your users can’t find something on your site, many of them will look for your sitemap which essentially is a table of contents or menu to your site’s content. However, there are many other reasons that sitemaps are vital to your website, such as for SEO. sitemaps make things much easier for search engine crawlers and if you want your site to be profitable, you should look into creating a sitemap for your site.
There are specific types of site that depend on Sitemaps to get properly crawled by search engines. Sitemaps are especially useful for the following types of sites:
(1) Sites that have dynamic content in which content is accessed from a database.
(2) Your site is brand smackin’ new and there aren’t many incoming links to your site or pages yet.
(3) Your site has a large number of pages, such as archive pages, and all of the pages aren’t linked properly to eachother.
(4) Your site has many pages that aren’t easily accessed by search engine spiders such as Flash and AJAX pages.
However, the most important reason of all is that creating a sitemap will help Google do a better job at crawling and understanding your website. Another reason is that by submitting a sitemap to Google, you will then have access to much more analytical information about your website, such as how many of your pages are indexed, and what page errors that you might be otherwise unaware of.
The following tools were created in order to ease the process of sitemap creation. Most of these online, browser-based sitemap generators are free. Part II of this article / list will be a list of Sitemap Generation Software. I hope that this list helps you generate a great sitemap for your site.
