I would recommend both. A degree is important if you want a job in the corporate world. If yourself employed experience is king.

It can actually be just self learned, lots of resources online that will serve as guides so it’s not really important to have a degree.

My website is prepared by people just out of their college and I don’t think anyone out there would find this out.I have such people who are ‘fresh’ on their concepts part and their output is proudly international.
I don’t think that the real thing is the teacher or the student,the real thing is that how much knowledge the person has about the subject.

True having an education is extremely beneficial, at uni there are so many modules for example media technology, i was interested in web design however there was never a module focused on that, my course focused on media and the technology as a whole. so i took bits from that and learned web design myself…in the long run it was good i guess, because i land myself a job as a web designer
