Lynda.com (MY FAVORITE)

I use lynda.com when I need to update my web design or graphic design skills. Their web design courses are high quality and are easy to understand and follow. lynda.com is an award-winning provider of educational materials, including Hands-On Training™ instructional books, the Online Training Library®, CD- and DVD-based video training, and events for creative designers, instructors, students, and hobbyists.

W3Schools (FREE)

If you like to learn by example, then this self-training site for web designers and developers will be the spot that you want to go. Many of the tutorials / courses on this site (which are all free) allow you to type in code to see what happens on the page.

Academy of Web Design SF

You can try one free lesson before paying money for the entire course. You will be able to follow along with a web design class, from your home, in real-time.

Sessions.edu

The nice thing about Sessions.edu is that you can just take one course, instead of signing up to get a degree. There is a slew of web design courses here, but they are expensive.

About.com’s Weekly Web Design Class (FREE)

This class is more than just an HTML class, but rather a discussion of designing Web sites. If you do not know HTML, you should consider taking the Free HTML Class from this site first. The Web Design Class will not talk as much about how to build Web pages as the skills and techniques behind designing Web pages.

Web Page Authoring
